Write
I write in the imperative because life lives as a verb. I love and choose life, and so life lives. I befriended a journal and a pen at a young age. I prefer writing short stories, creative nonfiction (a type of journalism that uses fiction techniques such as dialogue and scene setting to describe a real-life story), and autoethnographic narratives (field research and a type of creative nonfiction journalism in which I write about my interaction with people to illuminate a larger social issue). Growing WordsI continued my passion to write on spiritual growth and scholarship when I studied Journalism, Bible & Theology at Multnomah University. I graduated with a BA in English and Communication with an emphasis on Mass Media Studies and Creative Writing from the University of Washington. Click here to read my senior seminar paper titled, Julian of Norwich's Showings: A Prescriptive and Persuasive Style Gives Her Agency. Also enjoy my all-time favorite short story I wrote as an undergraduate, titled "Home". Feeding DesirePresently I polish my academic writing skills for communication and organizational leadership as a graduate student at Gonzaga University's Master of Arts in Communication and Organizational Leadership program. This program allows me the rigorous scholarship, transformation, and creative freedom I want to water my desire's seed to communicate via the written word. I reflect to write of people, places, and things of importance to me, and enjoy interviewing and learning from those who contribute to my work. Write with VisionI write to foster connection, growth, healing, and spiritual development for those (including myself) kind and curious enough to read and to publish my work. Write with a MissionI write with creativity, imagery, and empathy to encourage people and to illumine socio-cultural issues and concepts I view as central to organizational leadership, the communication field, and community at large. See the Communicate & Lead and Research pages to learn about subject areas of importance to me. I learn from constructive feedback, which helps me to refine my work. To publish, I seek publication companies who share a similar mission and vision as I do for their constituents. Lastly (but firstly), I pray for wisdom and insight, and I study, to write that which is beneficial and worthwhile. For More InformationBecome a fan of Dena Rosko on Facebook.
